Get a unique late 30's to 40's piece with this lovely, and very-modified top with a story to tell... When I picked this piece up, I could tell that it had already gone through some interesting modifications. For one, this was most likely formerly a dress, and the skirt was removed. The interesting pink and marigold pieces at the left side of the bodice were top-stitched onto the marigold section (probably to cover a hole?). There were several large holes in the body, as well as peplum, when I found it. The color transfer at the front shoulders was also much deeper before I gave it a three-bath wash. I have repaired the holes throughout (three at back peplum, one at front peplum, one front main body, one back main body). I chose to cover the main body/bodice holes with appliqués from the same time period -please feel free to reach out, should you prefer the back peplum hole repairs also be covered y the same appliqués as seen on front, I would do this at no additional cost, upon purchase, but keep in mind it would weight down the back peplum area a touch. This amazing piece is made from a soft, medium-weight silk/wool crepe fabric. It has a v-neckline with mock wrap front (two hidden sets of snap closures beneath), and short sleeves. The only opening is a row of buttons inset at the left side, so you would need to be able to slip this on overhead (this is why I was not able to photograph this one on a dress form/mannequin). I love the super 30's/40's details like the long peplum, the side seam button opening, and the smocked front shoulders. No labels or maker's marks present. Overall condition is good, aside from the aforementioned modifications, as well as fading/color loss to the top shoulder areas, light color transfer at front shoulder areas, light color loss at back left area, and 1/4 inch sized dark blue stain at back neckline -please review photographs for full details.
