This is a late 1800's Victorian style (possible) mourning dress. This dress was part of an estate of a prominent Boston area family and has been passed down within the family. The dress is two pieces and features a gorgeous bodice with fringe, rows of pintucks, gold trim cuffs, peplum hem and a lace insert. the fabric type is unknown but most likely silk. There is a 1.5" tear in the right sleeve. The other side of the sleeve in the same spot has a 3/4" tear. A section of one of the ruffles on the hem of the skirt needs reattached and there is a 6.5" tear on the right side of the skirt from the waistline down. There are few microtears on the skirt that can only be seen if held up to the light and a trim seam separation on the top of the collar on the right side. None of this would be complicated to fix. Beautiful details and construction. The lace collar fastens all the way to the base of the hairline in the back but I didn't want to force it on my mannequin. Measurements (lying flat): Underarm to underarm 19", Sleeve length about 20", Bodice length 18", Skirt Length 34"
