Gorgeous and stately, this white cotton plaid weave summer dress dates to the 1880s and is made in the bustle style, with long front 'tails' and short back ones designed to poof out over a tournure bustle. The jacket has a built in interior buttoning bodice as well, and the skirt has the traditional cartridge pleats in back to accommodate a bustle, with a slight train. The skirt is complete except for needing a button and buttonhole to close it on the side. There are ruffle trims on both the skirt and the jacket. This stunning white two piece set may never have been worn, given the incomplete waist closure! Very petite at 30-32 bust and 24 waist, the skirting is long at 38 inches in front. The jacket measures 34 inches long from the shoulders to the front tails, and 22 inches long in back. The sole flaw, pictured in the final photo, is a small brown mark which looks a bit like a burn mark on the skirt. Really a special set! I cannot accept returns on these antique items so please check the measurements and ask any questions prior to purchase, thanks!
