DATING TO VICTORIAN 19TH CENTURY FASHIONED OF A PLUSH PILE BLACK SILK VELVET WITH SHIMMERING BLACK JET BEADING IN FLORAL PATTERNS RUNNING FULLY AROUND WITH A VERY LARGE FULL SWEEP. BAND COLLAR IS COVERED IN SILK SATIN WITH CHANTILLY LACE RUFFLES AT THE EDGE AND LARGE SILK SATIN BOW DETAIL AT THE FRONT CLOSURE. CONDITION: THERE IS ONE SMALL STITCH POINT THAT I AM UNCERTAIN IF IT IS A REPAIR OR NOT ON THE BOTTOM FRONT SIDE, IT IS RIGHT NEXT TO THE BEADING AND IS HARD TO NOTE. THE INTERIOR WAS ONCE LINED IN SILK AND ONLY TRACES REMAIN ON THE COLLAR INNER EDGE, COMPLETELY UNSEEN WHEN WORN AND I WOULD NOT BOTHER RELINING. A VERY BEAUTIFUL AND WEARABLE ANTIQUE GOTHIC CAPE.
