Item Tag: Gotham Lingerie

Gotham Lingerie, a division of the Chadbourn Gotham Sales Corporation, where fall bookings for 1964 doubled over previous years, created this beautiful double chiffon robe in the 1960’s. The label inside just says “Gotham”. Since I don’t really know anything about the vintage clothing world (I buy what looks really good, is a nice size, and in excellent condition), I leave it to you the buyer to figure out where in their company history this label goes. The robe is a style that I REMEMBER from the 1960’s. I am 74, and I love this style. Why don’t we still have lingerie like this? It is sheer, a double chiffon, that shows a little, and leaves a little to the imagination. The sleeves are long and gathered, and are double chiffon as well. The color is the most amazing thing about this piece, and I wasn’t able to photograph it so that you can SEE how special the color is. It is an off-white cream. This really sets off the embroidery around the collar, which is a gray, with blue accents, and lovely pink roses. The roses really pop against the gray tones. This robe is minty minty minty. It is a loose fit, so should fit Medium to Large. I am a large shirt size, and it fits me fine. You won’t be disappointed. Prices by the way, for my vintage clothing are based on condition. I try not to sell anything that isn’t in excellent condition.
